Robert Medlen Obituary

Mr. Robert Eugene "Bob" Medlen, 86, of New Market, went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning.  He was veteran of the United States Army.

Bob was a Christian and had faithfully served at Bevill's Chapel Baptist Church for many years in the music ministry.  He was in the Journeyman Quartet along with Bill Fowler, Earl Lasater, and Wilt Worsham, and he was the music director at the church for a number of years.  He also owned and operated the Bob Medlen Insurance Agency and served his clients faithfully for many years and always had a spirit of giving.  He loved his family and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ila Bee Medlen.  His parents, John and Mazilee Medlen;  His sister, Aileen Cope;  His brothers: Earl, James, Charlie, John, Bill, Walto, and Leroy Medlen.

Surviving family members include his sons and their wives, Bobby & Kathy Medlen, Danny & Carol Medlen, and Bart & Sheri Medlen;  His grandchildren:  Jennifer and Joe Huotari, Daniel and Sara Medlen, Matthew Medlen, Tyler Medlen, Jacob Medlen, Sophia Medlen and K.C., Monica and Cason Master; His great grandchildren, Abigail Westbury and McCarron, Graham, and Sully-Kate Medlen; He is also survived by his sister, Charlene Wages and a host of loving family members and friends.

There will be a graveside service on Sunday at 1pm at Bevill's Cemetery with Pastor Benny Berry officiating.
