Obituary

Mrs. Pearl Blair, 90, of New Market, went to be with the Lord on Sunday while with her loving family.

Mrs. Blair married the love of her life, Mr. Alton Blair, when she was 17 years old.  They created a life of love, hard work and dedication.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmama, aunt, and friend.  Pearl taught her family to love God and was the perfect example of hard work and devotion.  She would always help any way she could, whether by deed or her, at times, brutally honest advice.  She was the true definition of "Old School".  She was a lifelong member of Union Grove Baptist Church.  She loved her Lord and she loved her family.

She leaves behind countless memories with her friends and family who take comfort in knowing that her race is run and she is resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus.  The family would like to thank the staff of Encompass Health, especially Resa and Angie, for their care and support during these past few months.

Pearl's favorite quote: "When we are born, that's God's gift to us.  The way we live our lives is our gift to God."

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, W. Alton Blair;  Her parents, Hal and Lizzie Guinn;  By her sisters: Mildred Mae Guinn and Virginia "Bug" Hornbuckle;  By her granddaughter, Kristi Priest King;  By her sons-in-law, Harold Priest & Ricky Balch.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Blair Priest;  Her daughter, Debbie Blair (Rick Buis), and her son, Al Blair Jr.

Mrs. Blair is also survived by her grandchildren:  Mike King, Kraig (Tina) Priest, Jason (Joy) Balch, Joshua (April) Balch, Beau (Shonna) Blair, Jessica (Ryan) West, and Logan (Shane) Anderson. Her great-grandchildren: Hannah (Chase) Anderton, Luke King, Kaleb Priest, Tarpley Priest, Tassidi Priest, Jayden Balch, Anna Booker, Collin Booker, Savannah Booker, Talen Balch, Keegan West, Kailey West, Charlee Blair, Wyatt Blair, Audree Blair, Coe Anderson, and Ellie Anderson.

She is also survived by a host of special nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Thursday at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Lamar McGriff officiating.  Burial will follow the service and will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Casket bearers for the service will be Mike King, Kraig Priest, Jason Balch, Joshua Balch, Beau Blair, Ryan West, and Shane Anderson.
