Michael Burnett Obituary

On Monday, January 11th, 2021, Michael Kevin Burnett, loving father of 2, passed away at the age of 70.

Michael was born on December 14th, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, to Raymond and Dolores Burnett.  He served in our nation's military as part of the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1974.  Shortly after his years of service, he began his career in stage lighting and sound.  He developed a passion in this career, loved traveling and meeting new people from all different walks of life.  He would always tell stories about the famous people that he toured with, even stories of times he humbled them, which he had no problem doing, no matter who you were.  He moved with this job from New York to Alabama in 1980.  He began working a second job where the primary reason was to interact with his community, who crowned him with the name Yankee due to his proud upbringing in New York.  He loved to get people going, proving time and time again that he is always right.

He never like to admit it, but Michael had a very large heart where he would do anything for those in his circle, even those not in it, though he would just never let you forget about it either. Everyone that knew him knew he was very fluent in the art of sarcasm and had no problem practicing his skills with anyone that wanted to go a round (final score: Mike-25,593, challengers-1*(once he thought he was wrong, but he was mistaken).

Michael was preceded in death by his father: Raymond; his mother" Dolores; and his sister: Connie.  He is survived by his two sons: Joseph and Richard; his brother: Raymond; his nephew: Patrick and his grandchildren: Christian and Chelsea.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church on Beasley Ave. at 10:00 a.m.
