Larry Shockley Obituary

Larry Allen Shockley was born Thursday August 8, 1946 to Robert E Shockley and Viola (Leffellad) Shockley, in Fremont, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Bob Shockley Jr, Beverly (Shockley) Chellis and Nancy (Shockley) Miller.

He Married the Love of his life, Mary Elizabeth (Fought) Shockley on July 6, 1968 in Fremont, Ohio and had 2 children: Cynthia (Shockley) Ramirez and husband Shawn of Vero Beach, Florida and Jonathan Shockley and wife Rachael of Rogersville, Alabama.  He has 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren from his daughter: Colt Ramirez (wife Jacklyn) Tristan and Wyatt Ramirez, of Rogersville, Alabama; Sierra Ramirez, Selena Ramirez, Savana (Ramirez) Jackson (husband Mark) and Aydalia Jackson and Cortez Ramirez and Cordero Ramirez, all of Vero Beach, Florida.  He has 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren from his son: Amanda (Shockley) Wilson (husband Austin) and Anthony and Alivia Wilson, Michael Shockley (wife Sydney) and Dixie Shockley, Heather Shockley and River , and Samantha Shockley, all of Rogersville, Alabama.

Larry's life was anything but boring.  He graduated from Fremont Ross in 1964.  He served 6 years in the Ohio National Guard and  barbered with his dad Robert Shockley at Shockley's Barber Shop.  He drove semi truck for many years and his son Jonathan began driving semi truck with him for several more years.  Larry went back to school at Owens Technical College and completed his degree and became a Truck Driving Instructor at Owens College for the Ohio State Patrol.  He moved to Florida to be with his children and grandchildren and eventually moved to Alabama where his son Jonathan now lives, and his grandparents and other family members are from.

Larry Loved the Lord Jesus, spending time with his family and fishing.  He was a great story teller and could hold everyones' attention with many details and facts.  He especially loved history and sharing stories of his family and childhood.  His life was a reflection of a bold man with a heart of gold who cared for people, even complete strangers.  He would help anyone in need and always encouraged people to be the best they could with what they had to work with.  He believed in possibilities but more importantly, he believed in the potential for greatness and goodness  in all people.
