Dr. Gordon Eade Obituary

On August 1, 2022, Gordon Eade, 97, passed away in his home in Meridianville, Alabama, and moved to his eternal home.

Gordon was born in Johnston City, Illinois, the second of five boys, sons of Howard and Margaret (Lively) Eade. He married Nona Grace Rose in 1947, who preceded him in death in 2013. Gordon was also preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Margaret, and by his four brothers: Calvin Eade, Robert Eade, Kenneth Eade, and Richard Eade.

After completing high school at the age of 16, Gordon entered college at Southern Illinois University. Then, at age 17 during the height of WWII enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a Pharmacy Mate First Class in the South Pacific during WWII. After the war, he completed college at Southern Illinois University and later his doctorate at Northern Illinois University. He worked for 20 years in the Illinois education system at several schools. In 1968 he joined the faculty at the University of West Florida and served in multiple positions until his retirement in 1990.

Surviving him are his son, Dennis Eade (Gail) of Barrington, Illinois, and their children Heather Renwick (Dave), Hayden Eade, and Hunter Eade (Heather); his daughter, Ellen Eade of Meridianville, Alabama; his son, Dale Eade (Cindy) of Mariana, Florida, and their children Meghan Austin (Brad) and Lauren O’Bryan (Zach); and his son, Donald Eade (Cherry) of Meridianville, Alabama, and their children Chase Eade (Becca) and Chad Eade (Tori). Gordon is also survived six great-grand children (Emma, Finley, Penelope, Oliver, Howie, and soon to be born, Millie) and by a large number of nephews and nieces and their children. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 5, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the West Huntsville Baptist Church - 2211 Triana Blvd., SW, Huntsville, Alabama. Immediately following the visitation, the funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the West Huntsville Baptist Church where Gordon was a member since 2013. The funeral will be available via live-stream at www.westhuntsville.com. The Reverend Scott Gossett will officiate. The burial will follow the service at the Valley View Memorial Gardens in Meridianville, Alabama.
