Cora Jean (Ransom) Barber

Ms. Cora Jean Barber of Huntsville passed away on Friday.  She was 86.   Ms. Barber was a Christian and a member of Elkwood Holiness Church.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved her family dearly.   

Cora was known throughout Huntsville as a long-time customer service team member at Krispy Kreme on North Parkway.  She began her career in 1968 as the very first employee hired at the store and continued to serve the people of Huntsville for more than 45 years until she retired in 2014. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, O.C. & Virgie Ransom;  Her brothers, Willie, Houston, and Phillip Ransom;  Her sisters, Zola Mae Pruitt, Elma Trosper, Faye Ransom, Lillie Wray, and Lavada Barber; Her daugher, Kathy Luker; Her son, Marty Barber. 

She is survived by her son, Hal (Susy) Barber of Nebraska;  Her son, Tracy (Bridgette) Barber of Huntsville;  Her son, Robin (Rosa) Barber of Huntsville;  Her daugher-in-law, Cindy Barber of Scottsboro;  Her grandchidren:  Hali & Tim Morris, Bret Barber, Summer & Timothy Harbin, Chris Misterka, Suzi Barber, Bon Barber, Lon Ortiz, Travis & Rechele Barber, and Amy Harbin;  Her great-grandchildren, Charity Misterka, Paisley Harbin, Tate Harbin, Kendra Harbin, Jonas Barber, Rylee Barber, Sway Barber, Amira Parks, Hannah Barber, and Theo Ortiz. 

The family will host a Celebration of Life potluck on February 4, 2023 at 2pm at Elkwood Holiness Church.   All friends and family are invited to come and visit, share memories, and bring a favorite dish.    A graveside committal service will follow on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 2pm at Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church Cemetery.
