Cathy (Ray) Harper

Cathy Ray Harper, 62, of Hazel Green, passed away peacefully on Saturday.  She was known to some as "Sis" and some as "Taz" or "Cat". She was surrounded by love as she gained her wings. 

She owned and operated Cathy's Deli in Meridianville and made it a place to feel at home for almost 30 years. Her trademark was her green truck with Taz and "Angel With an Attitude" on the back.  Everyone who walked in the door knew they were in for a treat one way or another.  Cathy never let anyone go hungry and made sure everyone was helped.  She was a wonderful listener and a great advice giver.  She had anything you needed as in food, a smile, a hug, or an ear for listening.  She was a strong woman with a heart of gold and loved life and loved others.  She was a protector, a giver, and a healer.  Cathy is loved and will be greatly missed. 

She was preceded in death by grandparents and by her father, Eddie Raymond Ray, her mother, Doris Nunley, and her sister, Barbara Settles.

She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Martin and her husband, Samuel;  Her sisters, Sandra Ray, Ramona Tate and her husband, Robert, Cindie Baker and her husband, Fred, and Jennifer Carter and her husband, Thomas; Her nephews, Matthew Ray and Jeremy Settles;  Her nieces,  Madison Mott & Mariah Mott; She is also survived by many other family members and too many friends to list. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Wednesday at Noon at the funeral home with burial following in Valley View Memorial Gardens.   Pallbearers will be Bryan "Duckman" Meenen, Fred Baker, Jim Gipson, Donald Bennett, Louis Bingham, Steve Farrar, Tyler Eason.
