Adelia Hopkins Obituary

Adelia Byars Hopkins, 81, of Hazel Green, originally of Moulton, Alabama, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday morning.   She was born and raised in Moulton where she grew up and worked on her family's 250 acre farm, raising cattle and enjoying being a farm girl.   She had retired from the United States Postal Service where she worked for more than 22 years as a mail carrier.

Adelia was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and her faith was important to her.  She loved her Lord and was a faithful member of Crosspoint Church in Madison.

As an avid Auburn football fan, she also enjoyed sports cars, traveling, and dancing with her husband, Wyland, Those who knew Adelia will remember her energetic personality, her spunkiness, her happiness, her kindness and love, and her good sense of humor with an occasional touch of silliness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimbo & Ura Byars.

Surviving family members include her husband of almost 11 years, Wyland Hopkins;  Her daughters and sons-in-law, Ginger & Paul Cheatwood, Tina & Richard Leathers, Shannon & Jason Satterfield;  Her son,  Michael Hopkins; Her son and daughter-in-law, Sean & Nicole Hopkins;  Her grandchildren: Erin (Matthew) Hand, Lindsey (Eric) Hyslop, Hilliary Hopkins, Kayla (Zach) Swanson, Sierra (Eythan) Carter, Sarah Satterfield, Tyler Hopkins, Ethan (Olivia) Hopkins, Samuel (Tess) Satterfield, and Seth Satterfield;  One great-granddaughter, Ava Hyslop, and one great-grandson, Luke Swanson, expected soon.

She is also survived by several life-long friends who she loved dearly and who loved her in return.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6pm until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2pm at the funeral home with Pastor John Dees officiating.  Burial will follow in Bevill's Cemetery.

Adelia will be remembered in the hearts of those who loved her - especially her husband who the Lord brought into her life, and by her children.  She was most proud of all of them.
