Mr. James Anthony "Tony" Allen of Toney, Alabama went to be with the Lord on Tuesday. He was 77.
Tony had retired from his career with UPS after approximately 25 years. He was also proud of the work he did on Capitol Hill in the late 1960s. He loved people and his friends appreciated and enjoyed his sense of humor. Tony was a faithful follower of Christ and was very involved in the First Baptist Church of Hazel Green where he loved to preach and teach Sunday School. His pastimes included traveling and cruising with his wife who was his beloved travel partner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Allen & Minnie C. Allen.
Surviving family members include his wife of 19 years, Christine Allen. his daughter, Caroline Allen of Memphis, TN; his step-daughter, Michelle Pierce and her husband, David of Huntsville; his step-son, Eric Rodriguez and his wife, Brooke of Huntsville; his step-daughter, Kimberly Burhans and her husband, Charles of Fayetteville, TN; his step-son, Aaron Rodriguez and his wife, Kimberly of Toney; his sister, Sandra Allen of Sierra Vista, Arizona; his niece, Melanie Yates and her husband, Jason of Tucson, Arizona; his nephew, Michael Page and his wife, Jennifer of Tucson, Arizona. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, several great-nieces and great-nephews, many friends and church family.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on Friday at 2pm at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Williams officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 1pm and will continue to visit after the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to His Way Ministries in memory of Tony.
Tony will be remembered for his faith, his love for those around him, especially for his family and his grandchildren who lovingly called him "Poppa T."
