Tonia Kay Moore

Ms. Tonia Kay Moore, 55, of Somerville, Alabama, passed away Wednesday.

Tonia was a true people person. She was a caring, loving, and faithful member of her family and loved them all deeply, especially her grandbabies. She loved to sing and dance, and she was a huge Alabama fan — ROLL TIDE! Tonia had a special personality and lit up any room she entered. Most of all, she will be remembered as the strength of her family and the glue that held them together.

Ms. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Barbara Ann Moore; her grandson, Isaac Pogue; her life partner of over 20 years, Benjamin Howell; her grandmothers, Mary Moore and Mattelyn Holder; and her friend, Rosie Edwards.

Surviving family includes her children, Mattelyn Ann Moore, Shastin Samantha Moore, Dustin and Lacie Elledge, Nikki and Justin Howell, and Wyatt Buchanan; her siblings, Sonya Rae Moore (Melvin), Mary Moore, and Gerald Wade; her stepmother, Marquitte Moore; her special friend, Ricky Jackson; her niece, Sabrina Daniel; her nephew, Little Melvin; her grandchildren, Braeden, Levi, Ensleigh, Hezekiah, Jasper, and Alaia; her dog, Bama; and her cats, Dolly and Conway Kitty. She is also survived by many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 14, from 1 PM until 2 PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
