Solon Roden, Jr.March 22, 1928 ~ April 27, 2011 Mr. Solon Roden, Jr., 83, of New Market died Wednesday at his residence. Mr. Roden was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a loving husband, a great daddy and wonderful granddaddy. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Fay Fanning Roden; his son, Travis Roden and wife Tonya; his daughter Sherry Roden Sharp and husband William; his grandsons, Keith Sharp and Amanda; Chad Sharp and Heather; his granddaughter, Shelly Roden and her mother Geneva Roden; his step-grandchildren, Courtney and Nathaniel; his great-grandchildren, Taylor, Rylie, Brianna, Jordin and Colton Sharp and special friends from Gum Springs Baptist Church and Evelyn Pitcock and Sheila Moore. Visitation is Friday 5 to 8 pm at Gum Springs Baptist Church. The funeral service is Saturday 1 pm at the Church with Bro. Winfred Stayton officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery.
