Roy Allen Jenkins, Sr., passed away suddenly at the age of 82. He was known as "Rab", "Rabbit", or "Ro-Ro" to many.

He attended school at Buckhorn High School, where he excelled at baseball. He drove a truck for Meadow Gold making home deliveries and he worked at Frito Lay before following his dad and oldest brother, BH, into the carpentry world, of which he excelled in also.

He was a master craftsman and there are examples of his work in all of Madison County. If you had ever stopped by to watch them work, you would know he loved music. BH would whistle and Roy would sing and not always the same song.

He retired from Hazel Green High School where he was beloved for keeping the high schoolers entertained and the school in tip-top condition.

His children and sports were his passion. Roy traveled, cheered, nurtured, and coached many children including his incredibly talented athletic children. His attention and dedication paid off. He was so proud to see Donna and Angie receive athletic and academic college scholarships, and Allen rise to the top of his field in the US Navy.

He never lost his love for baseball. He pitched in an adult baseball league for a time. One of the highlights of his life was going to the 2017 Baseball College World Series with his children.

He was a sharp Skeet Shooter and was a former member of the Lincoln County Trap and Skeet Club. He loved all types of hunting, but especially bird hunting and was a dang good shot.

He loved traveling the country, but nothing beat his love of family. If there was a table spread with the good old country food of his childhood and a room full of siblings, nieces, nephews and grandkids, Roy was in his glory. Roy loved making us laugh and he was INCREDIBLY good at it. Our laughter was his gift, but HIS laughter was ours.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bartley Sr. and Lorene Jenkins, his brother, BH Jenkins, his sister Linda Jenkins and son-in-law Rickey Stafford.

Surviving members include his children, Roy Allen, Jr., Donna (Jeff) Webb, and Angie Stafford. His grandchildren; Lindsay (Ryan Hargis) Boffa, Aimee Katherine (Geoffrey) Saxman, Shelby (Ryan) Hogan, Jenkins Tyler Schultz, Lauren "Sissy" Schultz, Kendall Stafford, and Hunter Stafford; his great grandchildren Zachary Boffa, Olivia Boffa, Adrian Guzy, Bodhi Hargis, Alice Saxman, Ellison Hogan, and Merritt Hogan; his siblings, Alice (Curtis) Ivey, Billy "BR" Jenkins, Lena Rosenblum, Ruby (Edward) Viner, Janice Quillin, Jerry Jenkins, Cindy (Joe) Holt, and Judy Carol Jenkins. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Hazel Green Funeral Home, with the funeral service immediately following. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery, 4809 Winchester Road, New Market, Alabama.
