Richard Leon Deweese

Richard DeWeese Sr., “Dick/Dickey", passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2026, just shy of his 76th birthday.

Dick was born September 12, 1950, to the late Ernest and Vera Mae DeWeese. He is predeceased by his wife, Cathy DeWeese, who he selflessly cared for in her later years, and his cherished daughter, Vera Elizabeth Walker.

Dick's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his sons, Richard, Nick, and Matthew; his brother Steve (Gale) DeWeese and his sister Wanda Igo, the other charter members of the best Sunday dinner crowd there ever was.

Devoted “Pop Pop” to seven grandchildren- Sid, Layne, Eric, Graham, Levi, Emma, and Jonah-he cherished each moment spent with them, imparting wisdom, sharing stories, creating treasured memories, and grabbing their ears.

Dick will be remembered by those who loved him for his loving nature, good humor, and fortitude. He was a humble man, generous with his time, resources, and praise, all gifts he would refuse repayment for. He loved to tease people and could easily laugh at himself. He was an endless source of encouragement and support for those he loved.

Visitation will be held at 10am on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Hazel Green Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 11am with Bro. Tim Boyett officiating. Burial will take place at Plainview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to a charity of your choice or treat yourself. He wouldn’t want you to make a big fuss.
