Phillip Dewayne Story

Mr. Phillip Dewayne Story of Ardmore, Alabama passed away on Monday evening. He was 64.

A native of Huntsville, he attended Stone Middle School and Butler High School. He was a kind, gentle, and outgoing man with a great sense of humor.

A faithful member of Pathway Free Holiness Church, he held a deep faith that carried him through life’s challenges and enjoyed sharing his love for the Lord and the Bible with others.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He enjoyed cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and Alabama football, watching The Incredible Hulk with his grandson, and was a fan of The Beatles and The Andy Griffith Show.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Odell & Gladys Story, by his brother, Larry Story, by his son-in-law, Matt Holland, his father-in-law, Floyd E. Key, his brothers-in-law, Junior Potter and Joel Key, and his nephew, Brandon Story.

Surviving family members include his wife of over 47 years, Rita Key Story; his daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda & Brad Golson and Brittney & Austin King; his grandchildren: Lydia Golson, Anabelle Holland, Hudson King, and Courtney Holland; his sister, Linda Potter; his sister-in-law, Cathey Story; his niece, Brandy Williams; his nephew, Brad Story.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5pm until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2pm at the funeral home with Brother Dustin Atchley officiating. Burial will follow the service and will be in Elkwood Cemetery.
