Nell Southard

Funeral services for Nell Southard age 88 of New Market will be conducted Sunday at 2PM from the Hazel Green Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Fitch and Bro. Benny Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Cemetery with the Hazel Green Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. She was born May 21, 1930 in New Market and passed away Thursday July 19, 2018 at her New Market residence among her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Southard, her parents, Qurless Andrew Johnson and Flossie Tipton Johnson, her brothers, Owen Johnson and Raymond Johnson, her sisters, Edith Johnson, Lucille Tate, Myrtle Shores and Mildred Fitch.

She is survived by her children, Bobby and Gwen Southard, Brenda and Roger Sisk and Vickie and Kenneth Williamson, her grandchildren, Steve and Cindy Williamson, Brian and Jill Southard, Heather and Brad Luna, Amanda Jenkins, Sheryl Southard, Melissa and Mark Teague and Alicia Sisk, ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren and one on the way, two sisters, Jean Sharp and Grace Sharp and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was a faithful member of the Mt. Fork Baptist Church and worked for Genesco for many years before retiring to stay home to enjoy and helping raise her beloved grandchildren.

She was a loving wife, mother and “Granny” with a sweet and kind soul and will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be Saturday evening 5-8PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home.
