Morris B Michael Jr, 92, of Hazel Green, Alabama passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at his daughter's home. Mr. Michael, known as "Moose", was an avid Alabama fan who never met a stranger. He retired from RSA in 1988. He and Betty, his wife of 14 years, were faithful members of Murphy Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Michael; his parents, Morris B. Michael Sr. and Northie Whitworth Michael; his sisters, Helen Pepper, Gay Harshaw, and Fay Burnum; and his grandson, Matthew Allan Michael.
Surviving family members include his children, Mark Michael, Kathy Carter, Craig Michael, and Margaret Doane; his grandchildren, Leslie Baker, Jasen Carter, Maegan Carter Robinson, and Alex Doane; his great-grandchildren, Lucky Baker, Layla Rae-Baker, and Carter Mae Robinson, his brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Carolyn Michael; his sisters, Cordelia (William) Booker, Rose O'Rear, and Louise Fox. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He will be remembered for his infectious sense of humor, his ability to fix anything with the most random items, and his love of singing the old gospel tunes with his friends and family. Above all, his greatest job and pride in life was being a grandpa. He loved every moment he was able to spend with his grandchildren. Whether it was just walking and talking, spending endless hours swimming, or just playing outdoors.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 1:30pm until 2:30pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:30pm at the funeral home with Pastor Mike McFarlen officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
