Mary Martha Scott Taylor, 88, of Athens, went to be with the Lord on Monday.   She was born in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Lucille Daniels Scott and Ray Crenshaw Scott.    She was a Christian, a devoted wife, and a loving mother who was the heart of her home.  A graduate of Central Missouri State College, she studied organ with Edna Scotten Billings. During her lifetime she enjoyed family genealogy, writing, embroidery, and music.  Always a good neighbor and a thoughtful friend, we will remember her encouraging and appreciative spirit and her ready smile.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her children: James F. "Jim" Taylor III  (Stephanie) and Nancy Taylor Brown (Mike). Her grandson, Carl Rex Rogers Jr;  Her great-grandson, Rex James Sekol.  Two nieces, one nephew, and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Taylor Jr. and her sister Grace Scott Phillips.

The family would like to express gratitude to the staff and friends at Limestone Health Facility for their care and concern, Athens Hospital staff for their help and kindness, and to friends and family who have encouraged us along the way.

Hazel Green Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and will host visitation on Saturday from 11am until 1pm.  A committal service will follow at 2pm at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Donations may be made to a favorite charity or to a music scholarship of your choice.
