Mr. LeRoy K. Jarrett of Hazel Green went to be with the Lord on Thursday while surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Jarrett was a faithful Christian and part of the Plainview Church of Christ where he had served for many years in a number of roles including Bible teacher, deacon, and elder.
LeRoy graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in electrical engineering. During his career, he worked on various space and military projects including Skylab, and he worked for a time for the Chrysler Corporation.
He loved his family and enjoyed cheering for his grandchildren at their sporting events. He was a gifted handyman who could repair anything that needed to be fixed and he was always willing to take on any building project. He was also an Atlanta Braves fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke & Elsie Jarrett, and by his sister, Peggy Pullman.
Surviving family members include his wife of almost 62 years, Pauline Norris Jarrett; his sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen & Jennie Jarrett and Brian "BB" & Jenny Jarrett; his grandchildren: Emma Jarrett, Elli Wade (Ben), Meg Jarrett; Stephen & Jennie's grandchildren who he loved, Aesop Newman and Ziggy Walker.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6pm until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 11am at the funeral home with Brother Steve Hale and Brother Ben Bailey officiating. Burial will follow the service and will be in Concord Cemetery with Brother Dan Binkley officiating.
