Kathie Sue Jean-Smart

Kathie Sue Jean-Smart, 68, of Ardmore, Alabama, passed away on September 19, 2026. She was born on August 7, 1958. Kathie was a 1976 graduate of Hazel Green High School. Kathie will be remembered for her love of Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves. Kathie was homebound due to health-related reasons, but at heart, she was always a country girl who loved her family.

Kathie is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Patsy Jean, and her sister, Joyce Ann Jean.

Kathie is survived by her husband, Steve Smart; her sons, Josh Jean and Jason Smart; and her grandchildren, Skyler, Jackson, Hayden, Lily, Mathius, Demetrius, and Orion. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Dumont, and her brother, Jimmy Jean.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 21, 2026 from 11am till 12pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 12pm at the funeral home with Brother Tim Boyett officiating. Burial will then be in Plainview Cemetery.
