Joshua Caleb Lyons

Joshua Caleb Lyons of Madison, Alabama passed away Wednesday, January 21, at the age of 48. 

Josh was born in Florida, raised in Alaska, then settled in Alabama about 20 years ago. Already established as the world’s greatest uncle, in 2012 he welcomed Connor Mack into the world and became hands down the world’s greatest dad. Connor was his life, love and joy, and his top priority was spending quality time with his son. He documented every life event big or small by taking pictures on his phone, as he cherished time with family, friends, and of course, Connor. 

Josh’s legacy is sure to follow Connor for the rest of his life. Josh recently became a Christian, and he’s rejoicing now in heaven.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Hunter-Lyons.

Surviving family members include his son, Connor Shockley; his father, Dave Lyons (Terrie); his brothers: Duley Lyons, Benjamin Lyons (Audrey), Mac Lyons (Sasha), Rob Lyons (Briana), Tyler Ragula (Stephanie), and Chris Ragula (Rachel); his sisters: Amy Hampton (Lesley) and Kara Ragula, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Other family members include Connor’s mother Haley Stasica and Connor’s grandparents Steve and Shelia Shockley.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 3pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Williams officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 1pm. Following the service, Mr. Lyons will be cremated.
