Johnny Whaley

Johnny Whaley, 75, of Athens, formerly of Hazel Green, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening surrounded by his loving family.
Johnny enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved racing, fishing, his horses, and CB radio.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Lesla Whaley, by his parents, Herbert & Beatrice Whaley, and by his two brothers, Ray Whaley and Jimmy Whaley.
Surviving family members include his six children: Lawana Hunt, John Whaley, Amanda Mills, Jimmy Whaley, Kevin Whaley, and Jonathan Whaley; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Barbara Acklin and Sharon Buchanan, by his brother, Gary Whaley, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends including a special friend, Chris Jones.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1pm at the funeral home with Rev. Eddie Graves officiating. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery on Stateline Road in Ardmore, Alabama.
