Jimmie Gaylon Gonzales, a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on March 29, 1956, Jimmie lived a life filled with loyalty, kindness, wisdom, and a deep and unwavering love for his family.

A graveside service will be held on December 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Charity Cemetery. Everyone is invited to a celebration of life luncheon at 12:30 p.m., following the graveside service, at Old South Clays: 27246 Wooley Springs Road, Athens, Alabama. Services will be officiated by cherished, lifelong family friend, Rene Zeringue.

Jimmie is survived by his devoted wife, Vickie Weaver Gonzales, with whom he shared more than 50 years of marriage—an important milestone he was determined to reach. He leaves behind his beloved children: Shaun Gonzales (Tamsen), Angel Stroop (Joe), and Amber Harrington (Gavin). He was a deeply proud grandfather to Mason and Marissa Gonzales; Savannah and Alex Stroop; and Will Harrington—each of whom brought him immense joy and filled his conversations with pride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aristeo and Velma Ann Gonzales, and his aunt, Maria Gonzales.

Jimmie was a man of remarkable character—loving and gentle, yet strong in spirit. He faced a long, six-year illness with grace, courage, and unwavering determination. During that time, he found comfort and peace in his faith, having found Jesus, and he looked forward with hope to the day he would be welcomed home.

Jimmie seemed to know a little bit about everything. You never knew exactly what he was going to say, but he always spoke from the heart—saying what he believed, and somehow, he was always right on point. He had the sweetest, warmest smile, one that will live on through all of his children and grandchildren.

He loved to make others laugh with his wit and humor, and he cherished every moment spent with those he loved. Determined to see his grandchildren grow up, he fought bravely and accomplished that goal, celebrating each of their milestones along the way.

He loved deeply, laughed freely, and treasured every moment shared with his family. Jimmie’s presence could brighten a room, and his love for his family was at the very heart of his life. His legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will forever live on in the lives of those blessed to have known him.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons Mason Gonzales, Will Harrington, and Alex Stroop; his sons-in-law Gavin Harrington and Joe Stroop; and beloved lifelong friend J.R. Zeringue.
