Harold Charles Hueholt, 101, of New Market, Alabama, passed away on November 27, 2025, at his residence. He was born on September 18, 1924, in Burlington, Iowa, to the late Herbert and Mabel (Peterson) Hueholt.

Harold graduated high school (Iowa) and worked on a farm until he enlisted in the U.S. Army.  Harold served his country honorably with two tours in France during WWII with the 66th Black Panther Division.

Harold met his wife, Ruth, in Ohio.  He earned an Electrical Engineering degree in Iowa.  They had 3 children and his career was with an architectural firm in Iowa City, Iowa.

Harold was an avid woodworker who built an addition onto one house and designed and built another family home, doing much of the work himself.  He and son, Mike, owned a Texaco gas station where they also did major auto repairs.

He moved in with his daughter Kris and family 15 years ago in San Antonio, TX.  He enjoyed playing Mexican Train Dominoes with Seniors at church, riding his scooter and touring the city by bus. When they all moved to Alabama, he loved mowing on the John Deere riding mower.  His additional 3 great grandchildren were born, and he saw them frequently.

Harold was fascinated by steam trains and tractors of all sorts.  At 99 years old he bought a 1954 Ford Jubilee tractor at the encouragement of his 97 year old brother.

Harold loved to work with his mind and create with his hands.  He had a good sense of humor and liked reading, playing board games, doing puzzles and Soduko.

When asked what the secret was to a long life, he answered, "I just keep waking up."  On November 27, 2025, he got to wake up to Jesus and eternal life.

Harold is survived by his children, Michael Hueholt, David (Dr. Therese) Hueholt, and Kristine (Neil) Boddicker; grandchildren, Jared (Meghan) Hueholt, Stephen Hueholt, Dr. William (Dr. Kelsey) Hueholt, Dr. Daniel Hueholt, Nathan (Jornell) Boddicker, Seth Boddicker, and Jacob Boddicker; four great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Hueholt; and his brothers, Glen Hueholt and LaVerne Hueholt.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Lon Ostrzyski officiating. Interment will follow at Stateline Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity Huntsville.
