Gilbert Ray Towery
January 16, 1952 — July 19, 2023
Gilbert Ray Towery, 71, of Hazel Green, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023 peacefully surrounded by his family at home.
He leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Susan (Hill) Towery; two daughters, Brandi (David) Land and Emilyanne Towery; two sons, Michael (Tammy) Towery and Jonathan Towery; two granddaughters Raegan Land and Bree Towery; great aunt, Marie Towery; uncle, Rice (Carolyn) Towry; two sisters, Peggy (James) Pierce and Sandra (Dennis) Vann; nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Huntsville, the son of the late Forrest and Alice (McCaleb) Towery.
Mr. Towery graduated from Lee High School in 1971. In his early years, Mr. Towery worked for Blevins Grocery at the early age of 14, he later became the meat market manager and stayed in that field in Park City, TN until he retired from Holts IGA in 2020. He loved his work and his customers.
His favorite times were spent with family - playing basketball, camping, fishing or spending time by the grill.
Mr. Towery is a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends and family, Saturday morning, from 9:00 – 10:30 am at Hazel Green Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 am, Concord Cemetery. Brother Terrell Boyd and Lon Ostrzycki will be officiating.
