George Arthur Kelley, 70, of Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of Hazel Green, passed away on September 3, 2025.
Born on February 13, 1955, in Indiana to Betty and Harold Kelley, George graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1973 and went on to dedicate his career to tool and die cast design and production, a craft he approached with both skill and passion.
George was preceded in death by two wives Constance Kelley (1974–1990) and later Sandra Kelley (1990–2018), his son, Benjamin Kelley, and two grandsons, Noah McCormick, and Brandon Kelley. He is survived by both daughters, Beth McCormick (Keith Roberts), and Erika Kelley Hay (Liam). His legacy also continues through his grandchildren—Tabetha McCormick, Connie Kelley (Zach), Collier Bell, Winter Hay, Isaiah Myers, Trinity “Cas” Myers, and William Hay Jr.—and his two great-grandchildren Arabella Kelley and Jamison Woodall, who brought him endless joy.
Passionate about working with his hands, George found fulfillment not only in his profession but also in woodworking, gardening, home renewable energy, and even brewing his own beer. He had a favorite greeting—“Good morning, young man/young lady”—which he offered no matter the time of day, a small but memorable reflection of his wit and humor.
Family and friends will remember George for his sharp sarcasm, warm humor, and his steadfast reliability. He was always there when needed, serving as a pillar of support to those he loved. Guided by the principle of “waste not, want not,” he lived with practical wisdom and a servant’s heart, leaving behind a legacy of resourcefulness, humor, and devotion.
A celebration of George’s life will be held on Saturday, September 13th, at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 3pm and the service directly afterwards at 4pm. His family invites all who knew him to gather in remembrance of a man who lived with love, laughter, and generosity of spirit.
Hazel Green Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
