George Wade Gattis, 85, of Good Spring, Tennessee passed away June 8, 2026. He was born on September 16, 1940 in Huntsville, Alabama. He will be remembered for his 31 years of service to the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War. Wade had several tours of duty that included Germany, Italy, and Korea. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major out of Fort Jackson in 1991. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Wade also loved to golf and was an avid reader.
Wade is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Jean Gattis; his children, Linda Gattis Turlington (Dennis) and Gary Wade Gattis (Cynthia); his grandchildren, Tara Elizabeth Burns (Matthew), Kathryn Elizabeth Trautman (William), Allison Rebecca Gattis; his great-grandchildren, Gracie, Eli, Parker; and his brother, Richard Gattis (Paula).
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Graden Gattis and Francis Gattis; and his brothers, James Wesley Gattis and Marshall "Red" Gattis.
The family will receive friends at Hazel Green Funeral Home on June 12, 2026 from 10:00AM - 10:45AM. A graveside service will be at 11:15AM on June 12, 2026 at Charity cemetery.
