Mrs. Ezella Pogue McNeese of Flintville, Tennessee, a longtime resident of New Market, Alabama passed away on Monday evening while surrounded by her loving family. She was 88.
Mrs. McNeese had lived in New Market almost her entire life and in the same home for over 50 years. She was a devoted homemaker and cared deeply for her husband and for the five children they raised together. Mrs. McNeese was a Christian and had been a part of the Hazel Green Free Holiness Church and she loved being outside and working in her garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Clyde "Billy" McNeese; her daughter, Yvonne "Vonnie" McNeese Davis; her brothers: Charles Junior Pogue, Audrey "Ordie" Pogue, Lawrence Pogue, Bill Pogue, James Pogue, Eugene Pogue; her sister, Louise Pogue Durham.
Surviving family members include her children: Peggy Morrison, Dwayne McNeese, Anita Taylor (David), Kris McNeese (Melissa); 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and her son-in-law, James Don Davis.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Brother Tim Patrick and Jimmy Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service. Burial will then be in Concord Cemetery.
Mrs. McNeese will be remembered for her amazing love for all her family, especially her grandchildren and for her famous biscuits and gravy.
