Mrs. Eva Sue Hickman Crye, 82, of Hazel Green, Alabama,  went to be with the Lord on Monday at her home while surrounded by her loving family.

Known for her friendliness and her infectious laugh, Mrs. Crye was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hazel Green.  She was a 1952 graduate of Young High School in Knoxville, Tennessee.  On the day after her high school graduation, she married her husband of 64 years, Duane Crye, who then left to serve in Korea after ten days of marriage.  In 1959, Duane and Sue came to Alabama for work on Redstone Arsenal.  She enjoyed crocheting, reading, crafts, and time with her family. In later years, she operated Spray's Ceramic Shop in Hazel Green.

An only child, Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Bert William Hickman and Elizabeth Jane Temple Hickman, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Surviving family members include her husband of 64 years, William Duane Crye; Her children, Michael Crye,  Lorie Vital, Julie Crye, and Bert Crye;  Her son-in-law, John Vital;  Her daughter-in-law, Gwen Crye; Seven grandchildren: Amanda Crye, Nicholas Crye, Ashley Davis, Chase Shelton, Whitney Routon, Parker Crye, and Kaitlyn Crye; Seven great-grandchildren: Emma Amara, Anna Amara, Abby Amara, Walker Davis, Ryder Shelton, Ronin Routon, and Olivia Crye. Her sister-in-law with whom she was very close since childhood, Shirley Crye, along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends and church family members.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday evening, 5/5/2016, at 6:30pm at the First Baptist Church of Hazel Green.  The family will receive friends beginning at 3:30pm at the church.   A private entombment will be held on Friday.
