Ernest Lee Ursery

Ernest Lee Ursery, age 73, returned to his heavenly home on September 1st around 2:15 p.m. His unwavering devotion to his family and his firm belief in God left an enduring legacy of love for all who knew him.

Ernest entered the world on July 2, 1953, in Nashville, Tennessee, born to the late Edna and James Ursery Sr. For forty-four beautiful years, he was happily married to his late wife, Lynne, whom he loved dearly. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around their two daughters and three grandchildren.

Following Lynne's passing, Ernest was blessed to find a dear companion in Annette Earwood. Together, they shared many meaningful times while beautifully honoring the memory of their first loves.

One of Ernest's favorite places to eat was Cassie's Cafe in Hazel Green, where he had a great friend in Cassie. His favorite meal of all time was fried bologna, pinto beans, stewed potatoes, and his momma's cornbread recipe. He loved anything to do with country food.

As a devoted family man, Ernest is survived by his two daughters, Charlotte Ursery and Meggan Sanders (Jeremy); his cherished grandchildren, Jordan Ursery, Alexandria "Lexi" Sanders, and Jovanna "JoJo" Sanders; his brothers, Edward "Polly" Ursery and James "Bubba" Ursery Jr. (Mary); and his beloved sisters, Carolyn McMurtry (Daryl) and Azalee Ursery (James). He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna and James Sr., and his twin sisters, Peggy and Patsy Ursery.

A memorial service celebrating Ernest's life and faith will be held on Sunday, September 20th, at Hazel Green Church (Church of God of Prophecy), located at 15240 US-231, Hazel Green, AL 35750. Pastor Will Sutton will officiate the service. Visitation with the family will begin at 2:30 p.m., and the memorial service will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m.
