Born on June 28, 1951, in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, Ellen was the cherished daughter of the late Robert and Barbara McAfee and the beloved sister to her late sister Cathy. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of love, dedication, and joy, woven with the vibrant threads of her family, friends, and community.

Ellen's journey was shared with her devoted husband, Mike, with whom she celebrated 53 years of marriage. Their union was a testament to love and companionship, a partnership filled with laughter and unwavering support. Together, they built a family that was the center of Ellen's world. She is survived by her children—Wendy, Todd, and Matthew—alongside her ten adored grandchildren. As a sister to Jane and John, Ellen's familial bonds were strong and unbreakable, and she leaves behind many cherished friends who were touched by her kindness and warmth.

Ellen was a graduate of high school and pursued a technical degree to become a Dental Assistant. Her professional life was diverse and fulfilling, as she worked diligently as an Oral Surgeon Assistant, a picture framer, and a daycare teacher. In each role, she brought a unique blend of skill, patience, and an infectious smile that brightened the lives of those around her.

Her hobbies reflected her nurturing spirit and keen eye for beauty. Ellen found immense joy in taking care of her family, cooking, canning, sewing quilts, and piecing together jigsaw puzzles. Her love for photography and bird watching was a testament to her appreciation of life's simple pleasures and the natural world around her.

Ellen's heart was as vast as the sky, filled with golden warmth that she shared with all who crossed her path. She was known for her ever-present smile and kind words, embodying grace and compassion in every interaction.

A service to celebrate Ellen's remarkable life will be held on July 31, 2026, at 5:30 PM at the New Market Methodist Church. In her memory, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, honoring Ellen’s generous spirit.
