Doug Odell Boyett Sr.

Mr. Doug Odell Boyett Sr. of New Market, Alabama, passed away Tuesday. He was 75.

Doug enjoyed gardening and playing horseshoes. He loved the Atlanta Braves baseball team and the Auburn Tigers football team. He was a member of Plainview Church of Christ. Doug worked covering floors for 44 years and served in the United States Army for two years. Most of all, Doug will be remembered for his love for his family.

Mr. Boyett was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Irene Boyett; his grandparents, George and Emma Boyett; and his brothers, Leroy, Donald, and Randy Boyett.

Surviving family includes his wife of 48 years, Connie boyett; his children, Douglas Boyett Jr. (Ashley) and Kelly Maddox (Matt); his grandchildren, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Tripp, Julia, and James; and his siblings, Dewey, Kenneth, Chester, Goat, Jackie, and Lisa Boyett. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 6, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at Hazel Green Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Ben Bailey officiating.
