Dickey Towry, 85, of Toney, Alabama, passed away on October 27, 2025. He was born on December 5, 1939, to the late Willie C. and Jennie Kay Towry.
As a young boy, Dickey worked at Towry and Sons Grocery, both on Highway 53 and Pulaski Pike. He was an avid beagle hound breeder and enjoyed participating in field trials. Dickey began a 27-year career with Dunlop, where he was known as the best rubber scrapper, retiring in 2002 at the age of 63. He jokingly referred to himself as the “Mayor of Toney.”
He found great joy in spending time with his family and loved taking them out to eat—especially to Posey’s or Greenbrier.
Dickey is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Eloise Towry; his children, Burt (Dana) Towry and Jana (John David) Patterson; grandchildren, Drew Towry, Jake Towry, Rylee Patterson, Kaylee Patterson, and Carlee Towry; brother, Ted (Darry) Towry; sister, Reva Simmons; and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Johnnie Kay Ready.
The family will receive friends at Hazel Green Funeral Home on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Watts officiating. Interment will follow at Charity Cemetery.
