David Wayne Underwood

David Wayne Underwood, a resident of Flintville, Tennessee and native of Hazel Green, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning while surrounded by his loving family. He was 66. David had devoted his life to his community and had served as a Madison County Sheriff's Deputy for number of years before his retirement. He was passionate about farming, enjoyed raising chickens and cattle on his family farm, and he enjoyed helping out at Hazel Green Funeral Home from time to time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby & Ila Stewart Underwood.

Surviving family members include his wife of 46 years, Pam; his daughter and son-in-law, Brandy & Scot Vanderpool; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Haley Underwood; his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Hannah Underwood; his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy & Ambria White; his grandchildren: Emma Vanderpool, Avery Vanderpool, Everett Vanderpool, Hudson Underwood, Adaline Underwood, Beckham Underwood, and Collins Underwood.

He is also survived by his brother, Gary Taylor (Sandy); his brother, Charles Underwood (Lana); his sister, Gail Fincher; his brother-in-law, Terry Fincher; his sister, Sherry Lowery (Mike), along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11am until 2pm at Mayfair Church of Christ. Funeral services will follow at 2pm at the church with Jason Bybee officiating. In accordance with David's wishes, he will be cremated following the service and then laid to rest on his beloved farm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to MD Anderson Center to fund cancer research (see below). David will be remembered for his dedication to serving his community and for his great love for his family.
