David Main

David Roy Main of Madison County, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of May 24th, 2024, with love by his side after a culmination of health struggles came to a head. Born August 1st, 1951, in Castro Valley, CA, to Manuel Leroy Main & Esther Margaret Main, he had a promising and industrious youth marked by an affinity for electronics and knowledge, and proceeded to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he graduated in 1974 with a degree in electrical engineering. Thereafter he moved to Boulder Creek, CA, which he made a home for over 40 years amongst the redwoods.

He enjoyed innovating electrical ideas in his shop, spending time with family, listening to music, working on his house amd garden, hiking in nature, traveling, and riding his Harley-Davidsons. With an active imagination, tenacious mind, and affinity for problem solving, he kept many irons in the fire. Everyone who knew him knew how strong his work ethic was. He had a fruitful career spanning several companies as a distinguished electrical engineer as well as self employed consultant, and attained multiple patents for his technological ideas.

In 2018 he said goodbye to California and retired to Alabama. He had 3 children who he did his best to instill moral integrity and ambition in. His life was not lacking adversity but he was a determined man devoted to providing for his family and living with principle. He appreciated the simple joys in life but was always driven for greatness. His latter years were slower paced but he loved his time in Alabama. He is survived by his brother John Main and sister Nanci Main, as well as children Sean, Landan, and Ruth Main.
