Darrell Wayne Bell, of Toney, Alabama, passed into eternal life on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the age of 56. He was born on May 22, 1969, in Huntsville, Alabama, and was a 1987 graduate of J.O. Johnson High School.

Darrell married the love of his life, Stephanie, on April 10, 1993, and they were nearly inseparable from that day forward. He was the President and Owner of Bowers Plumbing Company, Inc. He was also a lifetime member of the Toney Volunteer Fire Department, where he served in many roles, including President from 2008 to 2012. Darrell will be remembered for his strength, servant’s heart, deep love for his family, and unwavering faith. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and shared his faith whenever he was given the opportunity. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

A true fighter, he courageously battled cancer, defeating it twice before his final diagnosis. He was a proud father who loved nothing more than time with family, especially watching his sons, Brennan and Tanner, play soccer. He spent many hours coaching basketball and baseball, pouring into the lives of countless young people along the way. He also enjoyed traveling with lifelong friends and spending time working on his beloved 1966 Chevy C-10, “Scarlett.”

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Bell; his sons, Brennan Bell (Kennedy) and Tanner Bell (Haley); his grandson, Jennings, whom he lovingly called “J-Man”; his parents, John and Peggy Bowers; his uncle, Jeff Bell (Laynette); his cousin, Rodney Boone; and a host of other friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Bell; his grandparents, T.J. and Christine Bell; and Frazier and Nola Bright.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hazel Green.
