Craig Lanarde Meeks

Craig Lanarde Meeks was born on October 28, 1949, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, to the late Annie Laura Meeks and the late Henry Lewis Meeks. He departed this life to be with our heavenly father on January 5, 2026.

Craig was baptized at an early age at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and attended Chisholm High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country for twelve years. During his military service, he married his sweetheart, Alenette Mary Meeks.

After completing his service in the Army, Craig began a long career with NASA, where he worked for twenty-three years. Music was a lifelong joy and an important part of his life.

Craig and his wife raised three children: Craig (Meshell) Meeks, Jr., DeAngela Meeks, and Omar (Mahogany) Meeks. He was a proud grandfather to Tory (Celia) Meeks, Tralynn (Nyomi) Meeks, Omar Meeks, Jr., and Madisen Meeks, and a loving great-grandfather to Payton Meeks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Meeks; and his sisters, Marva Copeland, Phyllis Tennyson, and Vivian Meeks.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Alenette Meeks; his three children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchild, and nieces: Charvette Richardson and Vicki Durham, both of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and a host of step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, January 8, from seven o'clock to eight o'clock in the evening at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Services will be on Friday, January 9, at one o'clock in the afternoon at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Pete Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Huntsville, Alabama.
