Charles E. "Pete" Isbell, 73, of Harvest, Alabama passed away on Wednesday at Madison Hospital after a brief illness.
Pete was born on Sept. 24, 1946 to the late Percy E. "Buddy" and Mary Martin Isbell of Tuscumbia, Alabama. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He attended Elkwood Holiness Church and was a good friend to his brothers and sisters in Christ. Pete worked at Dunlop Tire for 25 years before retiring.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bette Isbell; His daughters: Charlotte (Jeff) Clark and Amanda (Jason) Smith; His grandchildren: Keslie (Matt) Parker, Patrick (Lauren) Tharp, Lora (Andrew) Nix, Blake Hargett, Taylor Hargett, Rusty McCarley, Syrenia (Mason) LaHayne, Haley Jones, and Brody Jones; His great-grandchildren: Chase Defoor, Ollie Nix, and Adalynn Nix; His sisters: Elizabeth Smith, June Isbell, Susie (Terry) Williams, and Reba (Tim) Williams; His brother, Sonny (Annette) Isbell.
In addition to his parents, Pete was also preceded in death by his daughter, Starla McCarley, by his son, Tony Jones, and by his great-grandchildren, Landon Defoor and Daisy Parker.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5 until 8pm at Elkwood Holiness Church in Hazel Green, Alabama. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1pm at the church with Bro. Royce Estes officiating. The family will be at the church at 11:30am. Burial will follow in Elkwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Tharp, Blake Hargett, Taylor Hargett, Matt Parker, Mason LaHayne, and Rusty McCarley; Honorary Pallbearers will be Gaylon Anderson, Chris King, Kerry Estes, Austin King, Martin Smith, Josh Estes, Tate Estes, and Jeff Atchley.
