Mrs. Carolyn Wimberly of Hazel Green peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday while surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was 88. Mrs. Wimberly was a faithful Christian and a charter member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Toney. She was a hard worker and had worked a number of manufacturing jobs before eventually retiring from SCI.
Things she enjoyed included watching Dr. Charles Stanley on television, getting out of the house and going anywhere, visiting with her neighbors and friends in the community, and taking care of her grandchildren in the summer when they were young.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Wimberly; her sons, Stanley Wimberly and Tony Wimberly. her sister, Jewel Ashby; her brother, Donald Smith.
Surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Debbie Wimberly; her daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Volney Graham; her daughter-in-law, Regina Wimberly; her grandchildren: Jason Wimberly (Shanna), Adam Graham (Leigh), Abby Graham, Alex Graham, and Haylee Wimberly (Jacob); great granddaughter, Jaylynn Foster; her sister, Earnestine Dixon; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from Noon until the time of service at 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Pastor Randy Watts will be officiating and burial will follow in Stateline Cemetery.
Mrs. Wimberly will be remembered for her neatness and always keeping her home immaculate, for caring for her friends, neighbors, and church family, for her awesome chicken and dumplings, and for her love and devotion for her family.
