Carolyn Morrison Pinkerton

Carolyn McCord Morrison Pinkerton of the Big Cove Community went to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday morning. She was 89. Mrs. Pinkerton was a faithful member of the Big Cove Free Holiness Church for 47 years.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a mother in the lives of her extended family and loved being "Granny" - a role she was particularly good at.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Talmadge and Fanny Lula McCord; her husbands, Billy Joe Morrison and Alfred Pinkerton; her sister, Barbara Ann "Bob" Martin; her brothers, Wilton McCord and Jeffrey McCord; her son, Michael Pinkerton; her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and William Ronald Ragan Sr; her grandson, Chris Wheeler; her great-granddaughter, Haddie Cowley.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Greg Cowley; her son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Jenny Morrison; her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Tracey Morrison; her daughter-in-law, Margaret Pinkerton; her sister, Juanita Knott.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Michael Al Pinkerton, William Ronald (Lori) Ragan Jr, Brandee (John) Spohr, Shane (LeAnne) Cowley, Kayse (Justin) Watwood, Jake (Ryann) Morrison, Rebecca (Alex) Walters; 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, August 11, 2026 from 5pm until 8pm at Big Cove Free Holiness Church. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 2pm at the church with Brother Mark Warren officiating. The family will be at the church at 1pm to receive friends.

Gravesides services will be Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 1pm at Morrison Chapel Cemetery in Heflin, Alabama.
