Carolyn Beverly (Gray) Ates

Carolyn Beverly Ates, age 83, passed away on November 18, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with dementia.  She was born July 18, 1941, in High Point North Carolina, to the late Hamilton & Elizabeth Gray.

Carolyn found joy in her faith. She grew up in Birmingham, where she graduated from Shades Valley High School.  She owned and operated a beauty shop in her younger years and enjoyed crocheting in her leisure time.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, David Ates.

She is survived by her three children, Beau Culpepper, Amy Elliott, and Craig (Joy) Culpepper; eight grandchildren: Paul Herring, Elizabeth Vasquez, Ben Culpepper, Zachary Culpepper, Samual Culpepper, Ali Finnegan, Ciara Culpepper, Aiden Culpepper as well as 14 great-grandchildren.
