In Loving Memory of Brian Chance Campbell

Brian Chance Campbell, 53, of New Market, Alabama, passed away on June 12, 2026, following a prolonged battle with cancer. Born on November 21, 1972, Brian lived a life defined by his patriotism, his humor, and his deep devotion to his family.

Brian was a man who held a profound love for his country and a deep respect for those who serve it. He began his military journey in 1998, serving for three years. Following the events of 9/11, Brian felt the call to serve once more and re-enlisted as a Heavy Construction Engineer. In January 2004, he was called to active duty, and just three months later, he was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq. Serving with Bravo Company, 411th Engineer Combat Battalion (Heavy) under the 1st Cavalry Division, Brian was a vital part of an excellent team that supported the warfighters. For his dedicated service, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and several other honors. Brian was a good soldier who remained immensely proud of his service throughout his life.

Beyond his military career, Brian was a man of many passions.

A man of many talents and interests, he found joy in the mechanical world, spending much of his time working on cars and drag racing. When he wasn’t in the garage or at the track, he could often be found enjoying the peace of fishing or the freedom of riding bikes.

Above all else, Brian’s greatest treasure was his family. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, and he held a special place in his heart for his grandson, Greyson. He was known by many as a true jokester, always ready with a laugh or a lighthearted moment. To know Brian was to love him, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of sharing in his life.

Brian is survived by his loving mother, Linda Campbell; his children, Shauna Renee Campbell, Austin Chance Campbell, Brody McKade Campbell, and Dalton Chance Campbell, all of Huntsville; his beloved grandson, Greyson Colt Campbell; and his granddaughter, Graceland Abigail Campbell, who is expected to arrive this December. He also leaves behind his aunts and uncles, Raymond and Mildred Campbell, and Fred and Helga Campbell; nieces and nephews, Calley Nichelle Campbell, Kara Ellen Hammett, Gage Fernandez, Keith Hannhas, Zayne Fer, and Peyton Gage Frazier; along with a host of cousins.

Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nelly Campbell; his grandfather, Gilbert Campbell; and his aunt, Hazel Campbell.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 18, from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Hazel Green Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Benny Berry officiating.
