Bettye Jo Dixon Crutcher, 82, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Huntsville Hospital.  Bettye was born in Cookeville, Tennessee to Odell and Robbie Hatfield Dixon. She lived in Cookeville until she met the love of her life, Donald Ray Crutcher, who was a student at Tennessee Tech University.  They married on January 20, 1957 and upon his graduation, returned to Don’s hometown, Huntsville, Alabama where they had one son, Donald Scott Crutcher. Bettye was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her husband and son. She always volunteered as a room mother during Scott’s grade school years and could always be counted on to organize sports banquets at Johnson High School during Scott’s high school years.  She was proud of Don as he progressed through the Alabama National Guard from the rank of Private to Brigadier General while working full time at Lockheed Martin. She made sure that Don and herself looked their best at any National Guard or Lockheed event and she served as hostess at many of these events. Ask anyone who knew Bettye and they would tell you she was always the most fashionable lady and the life of the party.

Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, Don, who passed on January 9, 2019, a sister, Alice Mae Dixon, a brother, Willard Dixon and her parents.

She is survived by her son, Scott and his wife, Marietta Cook Crutcher, her grandson, Colby Ray Crutcher, sisters, Ruth Dixon Mitchell and her husband, Ossie, sister, Pat Dixon Marks and her husband, Richard and brother, James Dixon and his wife, Judy, brother-in-law, Richard O. Crutcher, Jr. and wife, Anna and several nieces and nephews.
