Bettie Jean Whaley

Bettie Jean Whaley of Hazel Green passed away on Wednesday. She was 81.

Mrs. Whaley was a Christian of the Baptist faith and deeply loved her family. Her greatest joy was found in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as in her close bond with her brothers and sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Wayne Whaley; her brothers, Burl Wilburn Jr., Houston Wilburn, Bill Wilburn, Jessie “Jip” Wilburn, Ed Wilburn, and Jimmy Wilburn; and her sister, Christine Flynt.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Gary Acton and Teena and Jeff Harbin; her five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Nancy Wilburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lon Ostrzycki officiating. Burial will take place afterward in Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore.
