Barbara Brooks

Mrs. Barbara Echols Brooks of New Market went to be with the Lord on Tuesday while surrounded by her loving family. She was 83. Mrs. Brooks was a graduate of Buckhorn High School and spent her working career in accounting. She was a Christian and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.

Barbara will be remembered for her devotion to her family - especially her love for her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking them on vacation, out for ice cream, and spoiling them. She enjoyed cooking and was a talented baker. Barbara loved giving and always wanted to help others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Glenn Brooks; her sister, Geraldine Lancaster; her brothers, Tom Echols and JC Echols,

Surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby R. & Jennifer Brooks. her grandson: Garrett Brooks; her grandaughter, Brittany (Ryan) Martin; her great-grandchildren: Reagan Brooks, Brooks Martin, and Caroline Martin; her brother, Buddy Echols; her sister-in-law, Gearldine Echols. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 11am until 1pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1pm at the funeral home with Reverend Joe Echols officiating. Burial will then be in Concord Cemetery.
