Vera Faye Ashby Cole, age 77, of New Market, AL passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 09 at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, AL. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County, attending school at both Sparkman and Hazel Green. Vera worked in the lunchroom program for the Huntsville City School system for 34 years prior to her retirement in 2011. Most of that time was spent at Blossomwood Elementary where she enjoyed being a part of the lives of all the students and faculty.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, William and Addie Mae Ashby, her husband, Richard Warren Cole her son, Jeffery Robert Cole, and seven siblings.

She leaves behind a daughter Yvonne (Joey) Brennan, three granddaughters, Katie (Braden) Hatfield, Jenny (Jake) Shubert and Ella Cole, four great-grandchildren, Hadley Hatfield and Warren, Sydney and Weston Shubert, who will miss their Nina dearly, two sisters, Frances Johnson and Katherine (Jimmy) Morris, two brothers, Danny (Mary) Ashby and Robert Ashby, in addition to a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 3pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow the service and will be in Concord Cemetery.
