Doris Carter Obituary

Doris Louise Arnold Carter, born at home in Rural Dickson County, TN on December 29, 1927, died on May 23, 2019 at St Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, TN. She is preceded in death by her Husband of 68 years H. N. Speedy Carter. her Father- G.H. Arnold, her Mother- Ruby Taylor Arnold, Siblings-Maggie Ellis, Lou Tubb, Roscoe Arnold, Odel Nash, G.W. Arnold, Richard Arnold, Robert Arnold, and Claude Arnold.

She is survived by her Brother- Harvel and wife Martha Newman Arnold of Waverly, TN, her Sisters- Juanita Lieberman of San Diego, CA and Evelyn Keeton of Bellview, TN, her Son-Byron and wife Darleen, her Grandson-Jonathan and great grandson-Gus Carter, her Granddaughter Jesi Carter and great grandchildren-Nellie, JJ, and Wesley Barnes, her Son-Scott Carter and wife Lea Ann and grandson Evan Reed. Plus many, many nieces, nephews and extended family too numerous to mention.

She went to work at K-Mart on North Parkway in Huntsville before the doors were open in 1972 and ultimately ended her working career at Sam’s Club where she was unceremoniously laid off at the age of 83. She attended North Memorial Parkway Church of Christ from the late 50’s through the 70’s as well as Meridianville, Plainview and Mimosa Church of Christ.

She will rest with Speedy at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Ln, Nashville, TN.

Services will be June 8, 2019 at Mimosa Church of Christ commencing at 12 noon.
