Don T. Terrell

Mr. Don T. Terrell, 85, of Huntsville, passed away on Tuesday while surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born and raised in Arab, Alabama where he graduated from Arab High School.   He then attended the University of Alabama and graduated from Jacksonville State University before teaching for a year at Arab High School.  He attended Cumberland Law School in Lebanon, Tennessee, where he earned his law degree.  Don also served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He began practicing law in Huntsville in 1962 and established his own practice in 1963 and continued to serve the people of Huntsville for 54 years until he retired in 2016.  He loved children and coached the Huntsville Northern League Astros for 39 years at Stoner field.

Don was a giving, caring, and loving Christian man who put others before himself. A special friend stated that he would trust the untrustable and love the unlovable. He was always actively serving in his church, most recently the Woodland Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, M.A. Terrell and Effie Sparks Terrell, and by his siblings, Harvey "Red" Terrell, Gertha Jolliffe, and Mary Jo Isom.

Surviving family members include his wife of 61 years, Margaret Kirk Terrell;  His son, Don Scott Terrell and his wife, Karla; His daughter, Kelli Terrell Sweetman and her husband, Billy;  His daughter, Christy Terrell;  A special friend who he loved as his own daughter, Tracie R. Franklin; His granddaughter, Kirkleigh and his grandson, Brandon. 

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4:30 to 6:30pm at Woodland Hill Baptist Church.  Funeral services will follow at 6:30pm with Pastor Stan Mullins and Rev. Gary Lawson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Kindred Hospice of Huntsville, or give to someone who is in need.
