Cynthia "Cindy" Anna Daniels

Cynthia “Cindy” Anna Daniels passed away peacefully at her home in Meridianville, AL on Wednesday May 23rd, 2018 after losing her battle with Kidney cancer. Cynthia was born February 17th, 1954 in Aschaffenburg, Germany to her German mother Elsa Uhlschmidt and her father Antonio Hernandez who was serving in the U.S. Army; before coming to the United States as a young child and living in California.  She raised her two sons Jason and Jeremy in Aurora, Colorado before returning to Southern California to finish her career with Travelers (Formerly St. Paul) Insurance companies.  After more than 30 years of dedicated service with Travelers she retired and bought a home near Huntsville, Alabama to be close to her youngest son Jeremy and his family in October of 2017.

While it is difficult to say goodbye to a Mother, Grandmother, Sister and friend like Cindy; what we are left with is the indelible mark that she has left on all of our hearts. In life people were drawn to her; and it wasn't simply because of the amazing Christmas cookies she was famous for, but her kindness and ability to make anyone feel comfortable and accepted.  The strength she showed as a mother will be a legacy that both of her sons will hope to instill in their children.  No matter what she faced she did it with poise, grace and an unwavering commitment to her friends and family.  Her love was unconditional and no matter the distance you could always count on her to be there when you needed her.

She was massively talented when it came to cooking, baking, crafting, knitting and sewing.  One of her favorite pastimes was trolling the isles of local craft shows for ideas she could improve and put her own spin on.  It truly seemed there was nothing she couldn't create with a few trips to Hobby Lobby and her glue gun.  Through her battle with cancer she made time to put those talents to use knitting blankets for premature babies in the NICU.  When she wasn’t giving to others she enjoyed beating her family in the card game nickel and playing Mah Jong with the girls.  While sweet in her demeanor Cindy hated to lose and rarely ever did.

She will be greatly missed but more than that she will be remembered always.  She will be remembered for her spirit, her infectious laugh and a sense of humor that snuck up on you.  She will be known for the nicknames she bestowed on all of us and her inability to call either of her sons or her sisters by the right name the first time.  Most of all though she will be remembered for the way she made all of us feel… Important, acknowledged and loved.

Cynthia is survived by her sisters Virginia Johns and husband David, Teresa Purrington, Janet Hammond and Husband Chris.  Her son Jason Miller and wife Stacey, her son Jeremy Miller and wife Kathleen.  Her four grandchildren Jordan, Brookelyn, Joshua and Dylan as well as her niece Melissa and her nephews Matthew, Daniel, Anthony, and Christopher.
