Jimmy Reil Obituary

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Jimmy Lee Reil, 73, of Hazel Green, AL, on March 18, 2024, after bravely battling cancer for four years. He departed peacefully at home, with his devoted wife Lee at his side. Jimmy's departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, who cherished him as a wonderful and remarkable man, husband, father, and brother.

Survived by his loving wife Lee Reil, son Richard Reil, and sisters Carol DeLong and Cheryl Jester, along with numerous extended family members, Jimmy will forever be remembered for his unwavering kindness, sincerity, and authenticity.

Born on April 16, 1950, in Rosalie, Nebraska, to Arthur “Bud” Reil and Phyllis Reil, Jimmy was raised on a farm alongside his sisters Carol and Cheryl. He excelled at Rosalie High School, where he balanced academics with sports, participating in football, basketball, and various clubs. Following graduation, Jimmy enlisted in the United States Army, dedicating 21 years of service to his country. It was during his station in Korea that he met the love of his life, Lee, with whom he shared a lifetime of devotion and happiness. Their union blessed them with a son, Richard, in 1977.

After retiring from the military, Jimmy pursued higher education, earning both an Associate of Applied Sciences and a Bachelor of Science degree. Armed with his military experience and academic achievements, he embarked on a successful career in various technical roles within different companies, always embodying the strong work ethic instilled in him during his upbringing.

Jimmy's love for his family knew no bounds. His unwavering loyalty and affection for Lee were evident to all who knew him, and his role as a father was marked by patience, guidance, and boundless pride in his son. He cherished moments spent camping, fishing, and working on projects with his family, sharing his skills and wisdom with Richard and creating cherished memories.

Throughout his battle with cancer, Jimmy remained a beacon of positivity, his smile and resilience inspiring all who knew him. Though his physical presence may be gone, his spirit and legacy live on in the hearts of those he loved and touched.

In honoring Jimmy's memory, let us celebrate his life and the profound impact he made as a patriot, father, husband, brother, uncle and loyal friend. The world is indeed a little dimmer without him, but his light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
