Richard E. Farmer

Mr. Richard E. "Dick" Farmer, 69, of New Market, passed away on Saturday.  He was originally from Hamilton, Ohio and was a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.  He was enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany on the Nike Hercules System during the Vietnam War era.  Through Air Force ROTC, he was commissioned upon graduation from Miami University as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.  He then served eight years in various positions.  

After leaving the Air Force, he worked for multiple companies and ultimately retired from the Boeing Company. He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan, a fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and enjoyed spending time writing.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Kelly Farmer, by his brother, Gerald "Sparky" Farmer, and by his father, Harold Farmer.

Mr. Farmer is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jane Farmer, his mother, Virginia Farmer, his son, Kerry C. Farmer and his wife, Patti, his daughter, Meredith Farmer and his son, Stewart A. Farmer and his wife, Kristine. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Natalie, Gillian, D.J., Kelsey, and Brady.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening beginning at 4pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 6pm at the funeral home.  There will be a private committal service later.
